During a recent session on (8-26-2011) with Whitney (my first intern!), Anna wanted to compose a text to me, her mom, while I was out studying at the gym (more on that later!) She told Whitney what she wanted to say and she and Whitney took turns typing the words she composed. Here it is:
"dear mom, thank you for sending messages"
(to which I responded: "I'm at the gym now and just got off the phone with daddy. I love that you texted me! Have fun! See you later".)
Anna pretends to be Mommy in her office on 08-25-2011, including mom's ubiquitous phone!

I'm studying to be a certified SAS (statistical analysis software) programmer. I just read and worked out problems at the back of the chapter for a book of over 700 pages, and finished only like Thursday or Friday. I've taken to reading it on the upright bikes at 24 hour fitness, since they enable me to avoid eating or biting my nails nearly uncontrollably. I'm now up to being able to do over an hour easily at level 11 resistance. It doesn't produce the exercise high of using your whole body to move to music, but it eliminates the isms I seem unable to control otherwise.
This picture is my view at one of the two gyms I frequent. Actually it's from May 2011, back when I was reading an even bigger software book (on web-related languages programming) which I started in March. I put it on hold because I figured I could go from nowhere to certified (after I pass the test I'm studying for now) in only a few months, and walk out and make $70-100 an hour doing that. I got so excited about that I put the other idea off until after I get SAS certification. I can do it at home part time with occasional client visits, and it's super compatible with my role as Son-Rise team leader.
By the way I started studying computers and software by reasoning that if I'm autistic, I'd be good at it, and that I could learn to love anything since love it a choice (Option thinking), so I dove in and haven't looked back. I just figure I'd head for the industry with money these days, which is what everyone else gags on - this stuff. My reasoning has proven true for me. I think I'm going to be really successful at it. It's one way I'm taking my life back from the giant drop out of the race autism caused for me. I'm making autism work for me this time.
